Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the benefits of football family academic scholarship with social service. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. Both brought him up on the farm they owned in Eufala. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. Over the course of his three years as the starting line-up Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. He was awarded his third scholarship and was acknowledged as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. He settled down in Tampa following his college years, playing as a member of the Buccaneers for 9 years and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. When he was in the year 1988, he began working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. The bank was also a partner of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when his college football career began. In 1975, he was the captain of the team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an associate director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
